Freek graduated in 2019 as an actor and theater maker at the School of Arts KASK Ghent in the Master Drama. He is currently touring internationally with the performance After All Springville by Miet Warlop and also with Kladderadatsch, a performance for children by 4Hoog. He previously played the show Stekeblind in collaboration with 4Hoog, Frans Van der Aa and Raf Walschaerts. Afterwards he made and performed his own family show Bla Bla Blues together with 4Hoog colleague Femke Platteau.

Freek is also part of the young maker and player collective Camping Sunset, where he appeared in Happiness, Ten Oorlog II and Ten Oorlog III. In 2021 he played in Ariadne auf Naxos, a concert opera by Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, Nachtzwemmen, a performance about nightlife by Lieselot Siddiki & Jarne Van Loon and Fun Loving Humans by Simon D'Huyvetter and Kopergieterij.

Before that he played in Bosh Beach by Kris Verdonck/A Two Dogs Company, worked on HALL05 by TAAT, played in The Common People by Jan Martens/Lukas Dhont, played in the Bij de Buren project for underprivileged children at De Vieze Gasten and played a few roles for television including D5R. As a theater coach and drama teacher, Freek worked for Larf!, Kopergietery, 't Scheldenoffensief, Wildtgroei and Academy De Poel Ghent. He made the performance We All Go Rhythm with the young adults of Wildtgroei.

Freek is a physical actor who makes theater from an absurd and childishly honest perspective. Aspects in his research are growing up and finding a place in a world that puts you under pressure, both through social media, the urge to achieve and ecological catastrophes, but also masculinity and gender norms. He transforms these apparently heavy themes into a playful and open form, using the media that we also use in our daily lives.
